BMS Junior Orchestra

The BMS Junior Orchestra learns and performs a wide range of musical styles, giving its members a great opportunity to experience music from different cultures, different eras and in different formats.

What do we do?
This mixed ensemble is a fantastic way of improving your playing and meeting others of a similar standard. Play in the band, sing and work on your rhythmic skills with our team of experienced tutors. The Junior Orchestras give regular concerts, and have performed on stage at Wembley Arena.  

What instruments are included?
The Orchestra includes brass, woodwind, strings (not guitar) and percussion instruments. 

  • Brass includes: trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium and tuba
  • Woodwind includes: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and saxophone
  • Strings include: violin, viola, cello, double bass
  • Percussion includes: drum kit, timpani, glockenspiel, xylophone and snare drum

Where does it take place?
The Orchestra practice takes place at the following BMS Evening Centres: 
BMS Claremont Evening Centre on Mondays 5.00 -7.00pm
BMS Ark Evening Centre on Tuesdays 5.30 - 7.30pm
BMS Queen's Park Evening Centre on Thursdays 5.00 -7.00pm

How old do I have to be?
It is open to all 8-13 year olds who meet the entry requirements.

How much does it cost?
It's free!

How do you join?
Generally, entry is by invitation through your Brent Music Service instrument tutor. 

Alternatively, if you attend a school in the London borough of Brent but are not currently taught an instrument by a Brent Music Service tutor, you are very welcome to come for an audition to join.  Please contact bms@brent.gov.uk  for more information.
